Look for a program called "Gold Wave" It will display any type of audio
file as if you were looking at it with an o-scope. It is pretty
flexible and can be tailored to do a lot of different things.

Subject: starting RITTY

RITTY will not run under Windows, not in a DOS box!! Read the DOCS!!

It is best to boot directly into DOS at startup and NEVER let windows load.
RITTY may not work even if you RESTART into DOS mode.

With Windows 98, you just hold down the CTRL key when you first turn on the
computer. Then select COMMAND PROMPT ONLY when the MENU appears.

Then go to the RITTY directory (e.g. cd c:\RITTY) and then execute the
RITTY program.

RITTY is a great program. Version 2.x will doe both RTTY and PACTOR (but
you need a TRUE Sound Blaster Card (not a clone) for Pactor). Any sound
card will work for RITTY.

RITTY version 3.x will only do RTTY. I believe K6STI still sells licences
but you must write to him directly.

If you want a Windows based RTTY program for a sound card, you can try
TrueTTY or MixW32. But neither of them have the ADVANCED DSP features
offered in RITTY.

Good luck.

Apparently there has been another standard in Europe (I don't have the
details handy). This caused some problems recently, as ISDN phones were
sold here that had this different layout. It was then used only for the
programming of the built-in phonebook, so there was no problem.

Later, these keypad letters became more and more popular, mostly because of
GSM SMS but also because the telco started marketing the "name to number"
mappings that are used in the USA (of course these were always possible).

This caused a nasty problem: the letters on the keycaps did not correspond
to the system in use, and the firmware assumed that keycap layout. They
had to upgrade both the keycaps and the firmware to fix this.

Those phones were produced in Switzerland (Eurit), so probably the
different standard is in use over there...

Subject: Terminal programs for old AMT-1 TNC?

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can obtain a terminal program for the old AMT-1 TNC
for RTTY and AMTOR.

The program can be DOS or Windows based. (Windows is preferred)

I think RTTY by WF1B supports the old AMT-1 but I am not really looking for
a contesting program.
