Subject: Need suggestions for PK-232 MBX on RTTY
Rick and Cecil: I'm using a Drake R-4C, on which the sideband is set using
the "Passband Tuning" knob. I set this knob in the RTTY portion of the
band, which is a little below LSB.
Cecil: I'm not sure what you meant when you said "Does the PK232
honor your commands and respond with the appropriate characters?"
I'm using the PK Term'99 software. The setup is accomplished through the
menu items, for example, in setting the baud rate. I'm not sure if this is
what you meant by honoring my commands.
I can say one thing, the tuning meter on the PK 232 is hard to figure out.
I cannot get it to indicate anything like the manaul shows.
Back in the '70's, I went on RTTY using an old manual teletype machine and a
demodulator (I think that is what it was called). I would just tune slowly
across the signal until the teletype machine began to plunk away. So for
the PK-232, I hooked up a Y cable so I could feed the PK 232 and my speaker.
I tried various things on various signals (for example, changing the baud
rate) to no avail - just gibberish.
Thanks for the replies so far. Tom W6EIJ

Yeah, this is my guess. It sounds like his baud rate or
parity is set wrong. I'd set the terminal to 9600 baud,
no parity. And if that doesn't work, tweak around with
slower speeds and different parity's. And, if that doesn't
work, pull the battery jumper out of the bottom, wait a
bit, stick it back in. And then set the modem to 9600
baud no parity, and try again. I think it waits for
an '*' or something when it starts up to for setting
the baud rate.

Subject: PR: The Golist and CSS negotiating to produce Windows 32 bit version
of Golist
CSS to include access in all of product line, in addition to new Golist for
Windows
Muscle Shoals, Alabama. April 3, 2000 Creative Services Software announced
today that they have begun negotiations with The Golist to include direct
support of Golist in the LogWindows 3.07 and PacTerm 98/ PkTerm 99
programs, as well as begin work on a Windows 32 bit interface for the Golist
data..
The GOLIST, QSL MANAGER LIST, is "The Choice of DXers World Wide". It is
the most accurate QSL Manager database .
"Supporting the new Golist database in our logging and TNC software
continues our support to provide the best software for the ham community"
said Rick Ruhl, N4GDO, President and owner of Creative Service Software. "I'
m also very excited about working with John Shelton, K1XN, to produce a
Windows 32 bit interface for Golist. As an avid DXer, I've always found
Golist to be a necessary part of any DXer's ham shack".
Creative Services Software is at http://www.cssincorp.com
The Golist is at http://www.itis.net/golist/
Windows, Windows 95, Windows 98 , Windows NT and Windows 2000 are Registered

The CI-V interface allows a suitable computer program to set frequencies
and modes on the radio, read the S-meter, that sort of thing. If you
have a program that integrates this with RTTY or PSK, there is some
potential coolness. More so with packet, I should think.
If your radio has a "transmit" switch you only need the audio conncections
for PSK31. It is more convenient to have the RTS signal on a serial
port perform this function; an NPN transistor, resistor and diode are
sufficient for this function.
