Hi Paul,

The Palm OS already has an APRS program written for it. The program has been
out for a while & has seen multiple version updates already. As far as
Windows
CE, the world is still waiting for APRS for that system. It supposed to be
out
very soon though. The best place to check for anything APRS or packet related
is:
http://www.tapr.org

I have a factory refurbished Casio Casiopiea that runs Windows CE and I would
love to run APRS on it. Right now only one company makes a CE specific packet
program. That is:
http://www.cssincorp.com/
It's worth just checking out.

Take care & good luck OM.

Hi Chris. The *only* situation where you should use a non-zero SSID in
your callsign is where your station has no other means of specifying a
symbol. This usually applies to standalone trackers.

If you can specify the symbol in the destination address (e.g.
UNPROTO GPSLN via WIDE, WIDE specifies a node), or in the beacon text
(e.g. BT 1234.56N/01234.56Wn ....) then you do *not* use a non-zero SSID
in your MYCALL.

Yes. Take a look at the APRS Protocol Specification (start at

Can you tell us what brand/model of TNC you
are using? There may be a much better spot for
WIDE than in the alias.

Can you also tell us how far it is to the
next wide digi and if your station can
reach more than one wide digi?

--

There is rarely a fixed aprs station
that should be using the upath WIDE,WIDE.
Those two wides are likely to hit another
wide digi and both will get digi'd back
to you where they will duplicate themselves
and cause a lot of excess dupe packets.

If it's a KPC or PICO TNC we can set it up
so that the digi will not digi any packets
that it has previously digi'd itself.

Email me if you like and/or post to the NG.
