Subject: beacon frames in packet ax25

Hello everyone !!

I am writting some code to a uC to send small beacon frames in packet
ax.25, into the RF spectrum.
I am having some problems in getting the code right, because apart
from the manuals from ax25, i have no way to see what an ordinary
Baycom sends trough the serial port.
Anyone has ideas? thanks

Based on how my TM-733A and all dual (or more) band radios work, NO. THat is
not possible. You'll be able to use one band for RX & TX, but the other band
will be limited to RX only. The ability to transmit is limited to one band at
a time, and there's no way for a tnc to tell the radio to switch bands for TX.

Subject: Multi-Mode TNC Emulation in Software?

Hi,

I have this old AEA PK232 lying around the shack, taking up bench space. I
only keep it around in case I get the urge to make a foray onto the classic
digital modes (AMTOR, RTTY, ASCII, etc.). Does anyone know if there is a
single piece of software that can replace this venerable 'box'? Ideally, the
software would utilize more modern techniques, such as DSP and would support
(at a minimum):

- AMTOR
- PACTOR
- PSK31
- RTTY
- ASCII

Also, the ability to analyize a signal and take a 'guess' at its
characteristics - a'la the SI-mode of the PK-232 would be nice, but not
essential.

Thanks, Darrell
NR3Y.

ps. No, I'm not interested in Logging Programs that do some of these modes,
nor in acquiring multiple programs that specialize in one mode or another -
just looking for a composite solution.

Unfortunately most of the Pactor II tfc you encounter on the bands is
automatic S&F between BBSs.
What about the idea of establishing a calling frequency for Pactor
*live* QSOs per band? Of course it would have to be an "odd" QRG (xxx.5
mark) to avoid being interrupted by S&F tfc suddenly starting and not
caring about any weak-signal QSO going on.
