What's the trick to getting the MFJ 1270B TNC to work on HF packet?
I've pressed the HF/VHF switch to HF, and tuned the radio such that
the received packets are triggering the DCD LED on the TNC.
Nothing is being decoded though. Monitor on, mcom on, mcon on.

Do I need to change the baud rate jumpers? I thought I might need
to, but then what other purpose does the HF/VHF switch have?

HF packet is 300 baud (execept on 10 meters, where 1200 baud is permitted),
so yes, you need to change the baud rate.

Then what does the HF/VHF switch do? I assumed this would change the rate
(rather than changing the dip switches), since I can't think of another
purpose for that switch. The TNC doesn't have dual radio connectors or
anything like that.

Can you or anyone tell me what the dip switches should be to use the 300 bps
modem? The manual says nothing about the dip switches.

thanks

Call-for-Papers
16. International Packet Radio Convention at Darmstadt Technical University

Hello Packet-Friends,

in contrast to all rumors there will be a Packet Radio Convention in
Darmstadt again in 2000.
However, it will be about one month earlier than in the past, on

April 1st and 2nd, 2000 (this is not an april fool)

in the "Hans-Busch-Institut" of Darmstadt Technical University.
As always, thematics include everything that concerns packet radio and
digital wireless communication in general, as node controllers, modem
concepts, RF modules, link planning, protocols, software, operating systems...

It seems there has not been much development last year in digital amateur
radio, but maybe even because of this fact there are some new concepts or
projects which could be presented.

As always,

- we have two big rooms reserved for lectures
