If you are using Baycom you need to remove any TSR's as it is very picky
about them. Check out http://www.tigertronics.com/sheriff.htm for a =

Subject: PicoPacket and Tripmate APRS Tracker

I would like to run a PicoPacket dual port TNC with a Tripmate GPS
Receiver as an APRS stand alone Tracker.

Can someone give me the Pin connections between the Tripmate and the
PicoPacket for the RS 232 Serial Port (RJ-45-6), or the RS 232-2 (3.5
mm Stereo Jack), or both?

I will be getting my power for the PicoPacket and the Tripmate
separately from these connections.

Thank You, S. C. MacKenzie, N6HAC scmacken@cruzio.com

Subject: Req: info on routing in packet radio networks

Hello,

Currently I'm working to find out a few things about networking
in a packet radio environment. The thing I'm trying to find
out now is the way packets are directed between 'nodes', or
repeaters.

Can anyone help me with the specifications for the algorighms
that are most widely used (dynamic routing algorithms)? I have
trouble finding any specs (or even descriptions) on the internet
and even the arrl/tapr/... pages.

A url would help, books/magazine titles too, a doc would be
excellent.

Thanks in advance,

Bart

P.S.: info can best be sent to punt(remove@the.junk)fel.tno.nl

Yes, you still need a TNC.

I just tried the procedure in the docs where you build a .GEO file.
It did in fact use a GIF image. The image was not as good. It
looked distorted actually, and it did not fill the window. Part of
it was blank. The quality was too poor to proceed.

I'm pretty much moving away from WinAPRS. I have a registered copy
and I like certain features, but its GUI is pretty much obsolete now.
I plan to register the UI-View and go with that. Combining that and
Street Atlas maps, is a very professional looking solution.

Roger will probably fill you in on the feature differences. A non-
technical difference is the registration charge: about $16 for UI-View.
A lot more for WinAPRS.

When I downloaded APRS V2.4.0 it has an AGWPE interface, so when I used
it, it noted that I needed to upgrade my engine. I went to the AGW site, but
could not
find the new version. Then after your message I went and visited again. I
downloaded
the latest version, and it hasn't crashed yet. I did have a lot of trouble
getting it to
run right. Had to delete ports and reboot several times :-) Now we're
cooking. I can
run APRS and packet on the same dual-port TNC, or go use the sound card
interface.

Heck, I can even run APRS and UI-View together, and maintain the Internet
Server
feature of WinAPRS, and the GIF map features of UI-View :-)

Thanks for pointing out the new stuff.
