modem such as this. PacComm has a TNC-NB96 TNC which has it included
(with a switch for choosing 1200 or 9600). The PacComm TNCs can use
6PACK EPROMs.

Subject: PSK31 setup??
I have just set up my xcvr and computer to try out PSK31.
Most things seem to be working. However, I have a question about
keying my rig that perhaps someone else can answer.
I don't have a serial or parallel port open, so for the moment I am
counting on VOX to key for xmit.
My setup seems to work. But I notice that when received audio comes
into the sound board on line in, it is then retransmitted out -
meaning that it goes in to the aux input on my xcvr. This of course
keys the vox, meaning that I can't receive. The VOX oscillates on and
off as I would expect. I can't seem to find a setting of input and
output levels, and vox sensitivity that won't cause this to happen.
This leaves me with manually turning VOX on and off each time I
transmit. Is this what others do???
or is there some way to set everything up so this doesn't happen??
I would think that the software could mute the sound card output
during receive, but apparently this isn't being done.
Any suggestions??
Thnx,
Mark

Simple mixer adjustments should fix the problem -- mute
the line-in in the playback settings. As long as line-in
is selected in the recording options, everything will be fine.

In the Windows mixer, in the Playback options, mute the line-in.
In the Recording options, make sure line-in is selected. Then you should
not get line-in going out again, and no VOX triggers. The recording
options are all that matter to the software, not whether you can actually
here it in the output.

You need to click the mute control in the windows master sound control
panel in the line in part. This will prevent this flow through and yet
will still work for transmitting and receiving.

Only way to find out is to try it. Try system information software to see
what the system thinks the card is. My Micron laptop thinks that the
MB-chip is a real SB-16 card - works great.
The requirement is for a 16-bit soundcard function that is SB-compatible
and for Windows 95 operation. Some programs may work with W3.1 - I don't
recall.
I suggest the PSK31 program by G3PLX for starters and then the Logger
program by Bob Furzer when you get things working.
