Unfortunately, the SCS PTC TNCS are expensive. (See www.scs-ptc.com)
I strongly recommend that you use PACTOR not Packet for your application!

Subject: JNOS vs TNOS??
There would appear to be many versions of NOS out there. The most popular
would appear to be JNOS and TNOS. (Both JNOS and TNOS have DOS versions
which might run under windows)
Which is the best version of NOS for DOS or Windows 98?? Is there any
consensus out there in the HAM world??
Is it JNOS or TNOS??

Hi Cecil,
The PTCIIe does support PSK31. (I don't know why SCS does not advertise
that the PTC II and the PTCIIe support PSK31!)
I also use PTC II for SSTV using JVComm32. It works really well! (I am not
sure but I would think that the PTCIIe also supports SSTV). I have also
tried EZSSTV, JVFAX etc with the PTC II for SSTV and FAX. Thet work great
but they are DOS programs.
Logger is much more user friendly than G3PLX's program (with or without
PSKGNR enhancements).
I believe that the core of Logger uses the G3PLX algorithm so I doubt there
is much difference between the programs as far as performance is concerned.

Hi Cecil,
There are lots of places where you can find Logger. One good place is
http://www.chroniclenetworks.com/~dwm/Logger.htm
Another place is www.itis.net/golist but I can't seem to reach that site
anymore. FYI - The current version is 6.11.

I agree it is not a secret. But if you look at the ads in QST for the PTC
II etc, the ads mention RTTY, PACTOR etc but do not mention PSK31!

Which is not to say that G3PLX's program is bad, I hope. Most of the
people I talk to seem to use Logger, but I use G3PLX's PSK31SBW and
it seems just fine to me, without any addons.
(I think one of the addons is a type ahead addon or similar;
could never work out why this was needed, as mine seems to support
type ahead just fine!)
Cheers

It should be reasonable to move unattended PACTOR
trasmissions
to the same PACKET's portion of the band, and/or let
PSK trasmissions
move to CW and RTTY slice.
Since (good) PSK emissions are alike CW signals, I'd
hope that PSK
could operate anywhere in the band like CW does!!
