Today I bought a DVD writer and used it to replace the DVD ROM that used
to be there.
New software, the latest Powerdrive. All different.
I am still unable to get it to see anything I have recorded on my stand
alone DVD recorder.
It will play two DVDs I had knocking around. One, I bought full price, it
has problems which make me think it may be a copy but,if it is i can't
fault it. The other is a pirated movie, rubbish but O.K. for tests.
According to it's docs the drive and it's software will handle all data
formats, the usual CD,CD-R as well as DVD-R, -RW, DVD+R and +RW (which is
what my DVD recorder uses.
Despite that, it will play CDs, whether commercial or recorded by me.
I tried earlier to create a slide show but, despite it reporting a blank
DVD there it refuses to write to it, sayin I have no permission, check with
my sysop.
CMOS sees it as primary slave, just like the previous one and gives it's
make and model number just as before.
It is a bit puzzling if all I can do is play pre recorded, branded DVDs on
it. Not much good compared with a 28" TV.
Any ideas out there. I like excersising my brain but i do like things to
work first time occasionally.
TO sum up:
Two drives, one a DVD read only, the other a DVD writer, both with there
own versions of the same soft ware, both not working.
Ogh yes. Both IDE if that's any use.
Thank you very much in advance to anyone who can lend a hend. 73. Ian.
