Hi Andy and readers,
Sheesh! Now you're going to say that grey on cream are the wrong coloUrs
on my IBM PS-1 style keyboard. (;->) That BTW has been the basic layout
from the early days being most computers are IMB clones anyway. Recent
(?) additions were the math keys to the right and instant access buttons
across the very top. Manyfacturers call them "Internet keyboards" because
of the BIGH I button right in the middle of the row. Did I just write
"MANYfacturers? Hmmmm, it's appropriate so I'll leave it alone. (;->)

I have used MANY "keyboards" beginning with a 1930s vintage Underwood
office typewriter, the "newspaperman special", a real finger buster!
The IBM Selectric was like firing a pistol with a hair trigger, a bit
scary. I never developed the touch required to operate the darn thing and
sometimes a finger would linger a bit too long and the repeat would go
off like a machine gun! Back to the Underwood, I spent far less time
retyping my schoolwork with it. (;->)

Now, if you want a REAL beast which operates like no other, try a
teletype terminal printer! Being the "keyboard" hasn't keys but plungers,
a whole 'nuther "feel" must be developed. Ask any of the OT RTTY ops,
they'll talk about it while sweeping paper punchouts from the floor.

One look at that "ergonomic" (whatever THAT means) beast tells me I
shouldn't waste my money. I have no need for a CONSOLE when a keyboard is
enough, thank you.

Oh, do we have any IBM keypunch data entry operators left kicking around
out there? I never operated one of those things that made those famous
punch cards with "do not fold, spindle or mutilate" written on them, but
when I saw one I just said "uh uh" and walked away.
