Er, I think you'll find the UK keyboard is correct and the US one is not
laid out correctly :-)

Which of course is also wrong. The UK electric typewriter was of course
the correct layout :-;

As for the Germany AZERTY keyboard... Well if the Germans think that is a
sensible layout they may aswell go around wearing leather shorts with
braces!

Joking aside, the UK layout "seems" better as we get a bigger backspace
key than you. I've said in previous bulls that I'm never wrong but do make
mistakes. So having a bigger backspace key allows me to correct those
occasional mistakes a little easier.

There are a few correct keyboards that also have the correct feel.
The all time absolute best keyboard ever made in the history of computing
with the perfect touch, weight, sound, spacing, pitch was actually a US
layout. That was the keyboard on the Apple IIe (has to be the e-model and
no others). Even though the " key is in the worng place and the backpsace
is too small, everything else is perfect. Amongst my programming
colleagues including a Russian a Bulgarian a Greek and a Frenchman, they
all agree the IIe was the best. (Even with US layout and all their strange
characters missing they still vote it number 1).

Next best are the IBM PS2 (original) and PS1 minature keyboards. I have a
PS1 keyboard which is one of my most treasured possesions. The keys are in
the right places but the click, sound and weight are just not quite as
boss as the IIe. The original PS2 (the one that weighs more than most
laptops do today) is another excellent keyboard.

I've only used an IBM Selectric typewriter once. Its keyboard was sublime,
but it was only a typewriter...

It hurst me to admit it but the Micro$oft ergonomic keyboard is quite good
aswell. It takes up far too much valuable desk space, which is why the PS1
is my favourite.
