Hi Peter G0BJJ and the annoyed,

"Hello, this is the Millenium 2000 call screening solicitor killer robot.
I shall decide who gets through and who does not based on key words,
please state your purpose so your call may be processed. If your call is
acceptable I shall ring the subscriber, if not you will be disconnected,
solicitors hang up now and save yourself the trouble. (BEEP)

An answering machine with the record disabled works wonders, word gets
around and your annoyance factor drops dramatically. You don't reply to
spam, or DO you? BTW, one of those old external modems bridged across a
dedicated data line has the same effect, they default to answering on the
first ring. Callers get an earful of handshake and don't call again. Yes,
somehow telemarketers get a hold of unpublished numbers and used to call
my dedicated modem line all the time, hearing it respond was always good
for a laugh.
