The tiny trimmers (Murata trimcaps) in the PLL in some T500s suffered from
getting the lubricant washed out of them when the PCB was washed in a
solder flux dissolving liquid.  I think the symptom was that microphonics
would occur. The cure in the manufacturing process was to use a version which
had a seal of something like sticky tape applied, and it was removed after the
washing process.

The cure for radios in the field would be to replace the trimcap with a new
one.
