Hi,

I got a Tait T500 SII ex PMR radio, that I plan to get up and running on
the 4m band.

I have managed to get the TX side up and running ok, but I'm struggling
with the RX, with getting it on to the correct frequency.

Now, I have 2 types of software for calculating the diode matrix settings.
One type was written by a UK Tait dealer, and you just enter TX/RX freq,
and it gives you the matrix parameters for those freqs. I have tried this
software, and it didnt work on either TX or RX.

I have also tried the genuine Tait software, which is a bit more in depth.

Now, it asks for the IF of the radio, and gives a choice of either 10.7 or
21.4MHz. I'm assuming that it is 10.7, as I can see a XTAL on the board at
10.245.

The it asks for division ratio, 5KHz or 6.25KHz.

Now, the questions I have are:

How can I tell exactly what IF the radio is? for all I know, the IF could
be 21.4MHz, as I'm not very "au fait" with the T500.

Secondly, is entering the division ratio critical? the frequencies I am
looking to program are 70.425 & 70.450MHz, so surely either way would be
ok, as the freqs end with a nice round 5, as opposed to say 70.4875MHz.

I have spent quite a bit of time playing with this radio, and it's
starting to frustrate me now. Any advice anyone could give, would be
appreciated. No, dont tell me to trash it and get an ASCOM either! :-)

Anyone help?
