The comments on hash from computers into radios had me interested. A few
years back I installed a computerised capture combination system into the
pipe organ I play in a local church. During the service all went well
until the PA system operator switched off one of the radio mics. Then
all-hell broke loose with a terrific racket from the PA speakers. The
operators were told to use the gain control to turn mics on and off till
we could do something about the problem.
I had heard of problems like this before, and the cure was to shield
everything. including the modules which were put into an earthed box. In
our case we were upgrading the PA system with radio mics in the UHF band,
and the new system turned out to be unaffected by the interference anyway
so we had to do nothing further.
