Hi Pete and all,
Remember the bridge where the damaged track was miraculously repaired that
led straight into the tunnel where the train could hide from air attack? As a
matter of fact the route at that point bears a striking resemblance to a
railroad in Switzerland that I have several pictures of. If I weren't so lazy
I could dig through the archives and tell you the name of the railroad, name
the locations and send you the pictures in e-mail.
Hmmm, for one thing I haven't seen the inside of a video store in decades.
With internet download sites I don't have to, now I let my fingers do the
walking. I haven't been to a music store either for the same reason and
thanks to high speed internet and terabyte drives I have quite a collection.
Hey, if you had FTP I could send you some of the goodies I trade with a
couple of others.
Right about Italians turning against Muscleweenie, (can't mention my version
of Il Duce) but to put it in perspective that happened after the time frame
of the movie. Considering it was the turning point the Nazis didn't trust
Italian soldiers without supervision, that was the time of the underground.
Nevermind TV speeding up the credit roll or what they sometimes do here with
split screen so either way you can't read it. If you want particulars just go
on line and Google the title, IMDB gives the info and Wilipedia gives
considerably more detail.
Red Dawn was rather interesting, the Russians didn't count on what the
Japanese knew in WW2. Those cowboy Americans are armed to the teeth!
Hollyrude came out with a remake recently but I never bothered, nothing they
do twice can live up with the first. One of the few that did was War Of The
Worlds that was much closer to the book than Gene Barry in the 50s, the only
major difference were the setting and the machines came up from underground
having landed perhaps in prehistoric times.
As for train wrecks, the only ones that made news in NJ were those that
happened in NJ. The last happened last summer in South Jersey where a small
bridge collapsed... again. Yup, only a couple of years later on a very old
bridge that has been giving problems for years and never replaced. Thankfully
it's on a short freight line with the only house nearby belonging to the fire
chief, nobody is happy with the situation not being properly addressed by the
railroad. I'm rather surprised, it's owned by Conrail which is now NS CSX
Shared Assets and both railroads can well afford a new bridge.
