I can understand why Marlene Dietrich made a big deal out of hating
Hitler, 1939 was the tipping point. I remember the title Lili Marlene but
not how the song goes, her style rather left me flat so I had no
interest. Being popular on both sides is the mark of success, she was a
singer and not a politician.
Susan Sonntag is a name that shines dim in a dusty corner of my mindless
but jealousy of a producer only makes sense if she wanted to BE a
producer and didn't have what it takes. There's something I don't
understand, what does the producer have to do with camera techniques?
That's the job of the director of photography, the producer coordinates
the directors and editors thus production and the Executive Producer has
the final say when it comes to the end product.
Yeah, I know who runs Hollywood and the reason why that suburb of Los
Angeles became the film capitol of the US. IN THE BEGINNING God invented
the movie camera and he said it is good. His Desciple Edison built the
Black Moria (sp?) on Long Island and New York quickly became THE major
motion picture capitol and God said it is good. Then the Mafia took over
and God said uh oh, echoing Moses he said let my people go and sent them
on a long journey west. They got lost around Chicago for 40 years until
they found a compass and realized they had a couple thousand miles to go,
they were on their way. By this time LA was a bustling city but still lie
ahead The Undiscovered Country, a little and little known burg known as
Hollywood. Like the Israelites in Palestine thousands of years before
they made another land grab, erected a huge sign in the hills along with
a huge antenna farm and called the place their own. They own it alright,
the major portion of the film industry and broadcasting too so finally
the Marx Brothers came out of the Italian closet no longer having to bow
to the Mafia and Mel Brooks was born. The rest is History Of The World
parts 1 and 2.
Oh yeah, Slim Pickens and the famous bean scene. So why do you think it's
called Blazing Saddles?
