I am trying to use ftpmail to transfer files from known sources
but so far all I get is complaint about my format and details
of address and file identification. If TAPR can give me a hint
on the proper use of ftpmail to get the bad disk data I would be
more than willing to try.

Pass along your address and I will mail you another copy.
Pick up one of the books on the internet. It should have a section on ftping
files.

I would contact Aeronautical Radio, Inc (ARINC) at 2551 Riva Road,
Annapolis, Maryland, 21401. I think°you will find the technical
details of what you are looking for in ARINC Characteristic 597-3
(published Oct 31, 1983) "ARINC Communications Addressing and
Reporting System (ACARS)". This document describes the airborne
components of ACARS, including format of the message structure.

If you do something similar, you should be able to get what you want
out of 'ftp.tapr.org'. If not, drop me a line by e-mail, and I'll get
it for you and e-mail it to you.

During troubleshooting the speaker wires, volume control wires, etc.
have broken off several times from the PCB. I saw a beta at the
St. Louis meeting and it had male-female connectors for these wires at
the PCB end. Also the speaker female jack is poor quality. Why cannot
a 2" speaker be installed on the side of the cabinet? I did not
find screws long enough and nuts to mount the serial port to the
PCB. The instructions said use "solderable mounting tangs" if you
have them and I did not have any. 73's, JOHN W0UT.

Please send problem reports to dsp-93@tapr.org. Better chance of a response.

This sounds like a "gap" in the circuit between the AIO chip (U208) and the
amplifier (U207). What you are hearing the the power transient in the amp.

Yes!

If you mean 10 or 20, that should be ok.

First make sure you understand how to use your scope. Check it on the
output of the audio generator.
Do you have signal output on pins 21 or 22 of U208? If so, trace the output
from there toward the speaker and JP203-10.
On test 7, do you see the gain steps on the scope as you watch the LEDs change?

I have a beta of a PKT modem with DCD. It detects the "flag" byte in the packet.
If you would like to try it out, let me know and I'll e-mail the .OBJ file
to you. Please specify radio port and gain.
