Thanks for the response re the use of ftpmail. Your model
reflects what I think I know about the ftpmail request
format.
My efforts so far relate to three requests:
1- I would still like to establish a channel to tapr.org
to be able to get DSP-93 upgrades or new files. I need the
file name of the update from the St.Louis convention (Bob
Stricklin please note) and will try through ftp.tapr.org.
2- There is a file named UNKN422.ZIP which is a noisy
EME CW recording which I have been told is at:
ftp.webcom.com/pub/af9y/www/
Several different attempts to break this into "connect" and
"chdir" have been rejected because webcom.com/pub/wf9y/www/
is "not registered with the DNS(Domain Name Service)",
whatever that means. If and when I break the address code
I'll still have the ascii vs binary question and the
compression method question. I dont think I care about
either since deciphering zipped ascii or binary (pkunzip or
uuencode) can be handled after I get my hands on the kernel.
However, as the requester, I probably must declare at the
time of the request or the host will reject.
3- The other file I am attempting to obtain is a HF
decoder identified as:
ftp://ftp.ucsd.edu/hamradio/packet/tcpip/incoming/viterbi.zip
Attempts to split this into ftpmail request pieces has also
failed to date.
I will try your format for Ghostwriter to test my channels
and will also look into file transfer through Compuserve for
the above three files.
Again, thanks for your interest and help.
