Here's an oddity that I found if the some files have read only attributes.
Some programs do strange things !
Here's two examples:
X-Tree-Gold wont use proper screen colours resulting in an odd display.
The good old WA7MBL program YAPP.COM wont find its config file if it
has a read only attribute, and refuses to run.
I found this out quite sometime ago but I have just been recently
reminded of it when copying from my backup CDROM to hard disk.
Naturally copying from CDROM usually means the files all have read only
attributes, even if the had archive attributes on the hard disk they
were copied from.
No doubt there could be other strange effects not yet known, but if you
experience any oddities after copying from a CDROM, this *could* be the
problem.
