Precisely why I think it's daft to rely upon timers and other gadgets.
(Because it needs accurate setting) You only ned to be5 - 10 seconds
wrong before you could end up with the incorrect beacon slot time,and
thus an incorrect beacon ID).
Even for a SWL it's better to become familar with Morse and get a positive
ID on a beacon than rely on gadgets and timers.
That was the point I was trying to make.

I was under the impression that applications run through Windows would
suffer timing problems as other processes are done etc.
I may well be wrong so perhaps someone (where's that HUD) can confirm
or deny this ?
