Hi again Keizo and readers,
I was out of touch for a while due to local network problems, it's nice
to know I was missed. "Columnist"? Oh my my, you flatter me. (;->)
I remember watching the games from Japan and that old rivalry between the
Giants and Tigers, thanks for reminding me, I somehow remember the Tigers
being from Osaka but really the Hanshin team. Yes, it's like the Yankees
and Mets, now they have the NL vs. AL so the "subway series" (both
stadiums accessible by subway which is PACKED when there's a game in
town) sure attracts a lot of fans. So, why isn't the World Series the
WORLD Series? I would LOVE to see some international competition and the
teams fumbling with the bats, aluminium or wood? (;->) Oh, today bats are
made with far less moisture content and shatter frequently, gone is the
good old fashioned Louisville Slugger like the one I used to own.
Yes, Matsui needs some home cooking, a pretty Japanese girl would do ME
good too!
The Aussie football I mentioned isn't soccer, it's football played
differently than the American original. I much prefer it, non-stop action
as compared to ours with more time spent standing around than anything
else and only a yard or two gained or lost with each 5 second average
play. (UGH) To me it's boring and I seldom watch on TV. (Super Bowl fans
will kill me now, hi.) When the NYC station carried it I thought it
refreshing to watch them play in snow while I was sweating in the heat.
Speaking of soccer or as how everybody else calls it football I watch the
English competition from time to time, Manchester never ceases to amaze
me. Then there is the World competition, then it gets ROUGH. It used to
take more than an hour to get a haircut, the barber watching on TV and
yelling things in Italian. (;->) The best was when Italy won, he'd get
out a bottle of his home made wine and we'd celebrate. (hic)
So sports fans, join in and don't leave us alone in the outfield.
