Thank you for that Andy, I appreciate the advice. The story briefly is
that I bought a laptop mainly for secretarial work I do at meetings. By
the time th meeting is finished I have completed the minutes and can take
home the laptop and plug in the printer. I decided it may as well go on
the net and as wireless is included I may as well have both on the
internet (broadband). We got the laptop onto the net but the modem was
shutting out the main computer. By that time the tech had to go as it was
late. He is coming back tomorrow or Tuesday with the necessities for
networking the two on wireless.Long story but there it is.
Now the problem. I downloaded Winpack from the site and installed it
copying the ini file and the comms setup from the other computer. This BPQ
error message came up but I found I could receive bulls, reply to and send
bulls but could not access PNL messages, and every time I booted up got
this BPQ error message, IN comms setup there was BPQ so I changed that to
Telnet. Tried again and still BPQ error message, back to comms setup and
it had reverted to BPQ.Can't get rid of it.I have tried everything but
seeing I will be back on the main computer in a couple of days I have
decided to forget it; it doesn't seem worthwhile worrying too much about
it.
Thanks for the help anyway Andy. What you said is what I have been doing
without result.
And yes, I am on Telnet now through VK2TV. There is no BBS within 150
miles of here and that one is in the shadow of a steep hill just to the
north of me which shuts off VHF propagation in that direction
completely.Stangely the only BBS I can possibly contact is in Adelaidewhen
the DX on 2 metres is coming through and that is rare.
Cheers,
Bob VK6BE
