Subject: Re: what is bpq (VK6BE)
Mr Bob writted on ye olde worlde packet system:-
^
^ > but I have a problem with Winpack, that when I boot up the
^ > program I get an error message "cannot find BPQ switch."
^ > Can anyone tell me what that means? BPQ is mentioned in the
^ >"ini" file but seems in order.
^
^
^ As I understand it Bob, you're using an internet connection
^ on packet these days. I assume you have tried to use your
^ other machine whilst you get the other PC sorted.
^
^ In which case you do not need BPQ, which is a piece of packet
^ switching software. Normally used as a "front end" to a packet
^ station, a bbs or a node.
^
^ Just tell Winpack that your host mode is "Telnet" and delete
^ anY batch file etc references to it if need be.
^
^ Of course this assumes your resurrecting your old machine to
ÜÛÜ run an internet based bbs connection.
ÉÍÍÍÍ»
ÉÍÍÊÍÍÍÍÊÍÍ» If this is the case then I really suggest the following:
º º
º ÚßÄÄÄßß¿ º * Reinstall Winpack
º ³ °°³ º * Forget about BPQ, tell Winpack to use TELNET host mode
º ³ ³ º * The above is found in OPTIONS >>> COMMS SETUP
º ³IC-706³ º * Make a connection and download in an AUTO BBS session
º ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ º a short bulletins list and at least one marked bulletin
º º * Then use OPTIONS >> BULLETINS COLUMNS setup to tell Winpack
º º how to interpret the title, at field and all that stuff.
º ÚßÄÄÄÄß¿ º * You have done a BBS.TXT script to connect to the BBS ?
º ³ 12V ³ º * Don't worry, use of the delete key is not required ;-)
Û º ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ º Û * Once you have got that lot set up it will pay you to use
ÛÄÐÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÐÄÛ FILE >> SELECTION LIST EDITOR and add in the FROM field
Û Û the callsigns G4EBT,G0FTD and GM7HUD :-))
In all seriousness I hope this helps.
If in doubt you're welcome to ask any question, I'll try my best to help.
