Hi readers,
Thanks to the efforts of Mel G4WYW and Trev at GB7FCR I'm back on packet
after an absence of a month or so.
I've been very busy with my Cruse Bereavement Care voluntary work
(publicity officer for the local area) plus getting away in the motorhome
with the girlfriend.
And I've been playing once again for a Worthing Tea Dance every week along
with a few Saturday night dances.
And it's that time of the year when I've got to write school reports for
the pupils I teach at a local Middle (Primary) School.
You know the sort of thing - must try harder, needs to concentrate more,
gets easily led astray.
Actually, I try to write none of the usual phrases and prefer to be honest
without making the child feel they're a waste of space. Not an easy task
with some.
I did have a disastrous first time holiday abroad to Spain in late March,
early April. I flew for the first time too.
The flight was a wonderful experience. Flew Monarch Airlines from London
Gatwick to Alicante. I booked the seats on the internet knowing nothing
about seating plans.
Unfortunately I booked seats both ways looking out over the wing but
watching beyond or behind gave a view of things below.
I didn't know that my brother-in-law had a villa up the side of a
mountain, along two miles of twisting roads from the city of Denia.
The first two days were dry and sunny but the rest of the two weeks were
cold, cloudy and sometimes wet.
Back in the UK the papers were reporting splendid weather with record
breaking temperatures. We shivered in 10 or 11 celsius. Often we were in
the cloud itself.
Oh well, that's life. Our trips in the motorhome have since made up for it
and it was so nice to see the green green grass of home.
I did think the part of Spain we visited was rather like a construction
site with huge cranes building skyscraper blocks of apartments.
Calpe especially so. We viewed Benidorm only from a distance as we drove
along the main road to and from the airport. I was not impressed.
One highlight of the holiday was the meal we had in the Peking Chineese
Restaurant in Denia. Beautiful surroundings, excellent food and staff
making a effort to please.
With that I'd better stop before this becomes a book.
