Here is what ON5FS (Andre) says....
I have 4 TNC's in use in my shack:
- AEA PK-900 for Pactor<>packet cross-mode gateway.
- AEA DSP-2232 for the digital satellites at 9600 bps
- KAMplus for pactor
The software I use on these are PKGOLD9/DSPGOLD/KAGOLD
- Since 2 months the SCS PACTOR-2 running WWLINK from DJ0CU
The combination of both is THE BEST i have ever had since
I am in digital amateur communications !!!!
-I had the possibility to try out the HAL P38 card during one
month and was able to compair both.....
- After the 4 weeks I choose the SCS PACTOR-2 because it is
far more better than the P38....because:
Speed was superior * you can use an 500 hz filter * it seeks
the correct frequency !!! * It is VERY resistant against QRM
* it has two upgrade slots for packet making it the perfect
GATEWAY or Winlink....
- I am an QST reader since years...I have seen the articles Hans
is telling us...I have seen 5 litlle lines about PACTOR-2 !!!
in the same magazine....Why ? ....your guess is mine...
- One thing is sure SCS could have done better in spreading the
news....worldwide !
- Last remark:PRICING ...very important !
P38 = 395 $ + 21% VAT + Transport = +/- 480 US dollar
PTC-2 = 1490 DM (all included) = +/- 1.000 US dollar
- I do respect every ones choice...but you have two options:
Option 1: Plug and Pray....
Option 2: Plug and Play !!!!

NOTE: I AM NOT CONNECTED IN ANYWAY WITH HAL OR SCS !!!!!
