WHAT BALDERDASH ! !

I believe that Gerard PE1OUD is completely off the mark.

The following extracts and comments will indicate just how I mean this.

----------
" From: PE1OUD@PI8WFL.#NH1.NLD.EU
   To : CB@WW

So much for fair reasoning! "

-----
G8ETC wrote:- " Given that here in the UK approximately 80% of CB'ers
operate illegally without the prerequisite CB licence, "

PE1OUD said; "Let's see: I bet 80% of motorist commit some minor crime
while driving. "

VK5QX: " I believe that a MAJORITY of motorists do at least have a driving
licence.

There is a large difference between committing a minor infringement of
road rules and an ongoing (continuous) illegal operation of a radio
transmitter. "

-----
G8ETC "..given that CB radio is used by some people while pursuing
criminal activities, "

PE1OUD: " In every high speed get-away a motorcar was used. "

VK5QX: " The number of people involved in a high speed get-away would be
very much a minority of road users. "

-----
G8ETC: " and given that most radio pirating of the broadcast bands and
deliberate interference to the emergency service radio channels is
committed by people associated with CB, I must support your question. "

PE1OUD: " Statistically, 95% of all convicted criminals owned a motorcar."

VK5QX: " A totally erroneous statement. G8ETC was referring to active
pirating and deliberate interference, both actions being illegal in
themselves. Owning a motor car is not an illegal activity ! "

-----
G8ETC: " Here in the UK, I do not believe it's unfair to suggest that
CB'ers *generally* have a total disregard for any administrative rules and
regulations.

PE1OUD: " There in the UK, I do not believe it's unfair to suggest that
motorist *generally* have a total disregard for any administrative rules
and regulations. "

VK5QX: " Having very recently driven in the UK, including some lengthy
trips on the motorways, I maintain that by far the MAJORITY of British
drivers DO take regard of the rules and regulations. If this were not the
case no one would get anywhere at all.

(I did note, however, that there were a number of ratbags who do not
observe the speed limits. It is usually this minority who create the
trouble for others.) "

-----
PE1OUD: " Surely, it's fair to ban motorcars entirely, and shoot motorists
on sight.

It's bull reasoning, and we all know it.

73, Gerard, "

VK5QX: "Yes. It is BULL reasoning and, as I indicated above, such
reasoning carries no weight.

The comments made by G8ETC are no doubt quite valid. "

Ian
