What no one seems to be asking is WHY scrap the UK 40 ? What difference
does it make if 100 or 100,000 use the channels ? 27mhz is the CB band
worldwide and always will be. There's enough spectrum to go round for
other types of 2 way radio...

CB has died mainly due to the cheapness of the internet nowadays but years
before the lack of modes being made legally available. Why not SSB and AM
like Oz and the US and other Euro countries ? We wait years for packet
access on 27Mhz and after a lifetime of waiting CB'ers are insulted with
such a restricted use of packet - no nodes no bbs's etc - it's just not
worth bothering with...  Allow all data modes and all voice modes which is
not asking a lot really and I'mn sure this would rejuvenate interest and
usage on CB...
