No - it means I've had the carpet pulled out from beneath me, big style:-)
Well spotted Roger - it must be the scoop of the year, and you will
have made so many people really happy, not just myself. We could do
with a laugh in these troubled times.
Maybe the word should enter the lexicon of packet punditry:
"De-ruged" = egg on face; biter bitten?
(Or should it be de-rugged?)

Oh contrare, I thought it was a real purler of a joke!

Nor would I have done, unless I knew it had been penned by anyone on here
who's had his sense of humour surgically removed, of whom there are a few.

No - in the egg stakes, it was a double yolker. The yolk's well and
truly on me, and the white too.
Could "de-ruged" perhaps be applied rugger? EG: to the doubters who
thought England would lose in Oz? I think so! Such bliss to know that the
Aussie tabloid press have been well and truly pittled on from a great
height.
I'm not sure how we English will cope with winnig the cup - we're much
better at comedy and tragedy than success, but no doubt we'll muddle
through - we always do, so it's stiff upper lips, shoulder to shoulder,
and backs to the wall chaps.
Mused 'EBT, humming his adopted National anthem "I Vow to Thee my
Country", (I binned the other one - it was a dirge), while typing
with one hand, and dipping his eggy soldiers into his boiled egg
at brekkers.
Commiserations to our antipodean chums on the outcome of the Rugby.
Either side could have won or lost with honour, and both sides did.
