                                  C64 Quick Reference Page 5
(C) USING THE KEYBOARD:
THE KEYBOARD HAS TWO SETS OF CHARACTER MODES AVAILABLE:
(1) UPPERCASE/GRAPHICS: In this mode, the letters (A Z) are printed to the
screen as capitals, i.e. Upper Case. However, both symbols below the
letters are available for use. When the [SHIFT] key is held down at
the same time as pressing one of the other keys, the lefthand symbol is
printed. When the [C=] key is held down at the same time, the lefthand
        symbol is printed.
This is the mode the computer is in when turned ON. (The default mode).
(2) UPPERCASE/LOWERCASE: In this mode, the letters are printed on the
screen in Lower Case unless the [SHIFT] key is held down at the same
time, when
you get Upper Case letters. The lefthand symbols below the letters are
available for use by pressing the [C=] key at the same time.
To switch between these two modes, simply hold down the [SHIFT] key and
press the [C=] key to toggle (or swap) between the two modes.
(3) [CONTROL] KEY & [C=] KEY USES:
There are 16 colours available for you on the C 64 and these are
accessed
by pressing the number keys (1 - 8), and either the [CONTROL] key or
the [C=] key at the same time.
Looking at the keyboard number keys (1 - 8) you will see some colours
printed under the numbers. These are the colours available by pressing
those keys at the same time as the [CONTROL) key.
Another 8 colours are available by pressing the [C=] key at the same
time
        as the number keys.
The number keys 9 and 0 used in conjunction with the [CONTROL] key will
         turn the REVERSE mode on ([C=] & [9] and off ([C=] & [0]).
(D) STOPPING A PROGRAM RUNNING:
        EITHER: Press (RUN/STOP] key

OR: Hold [RUN/STOP] key down and 'tap' the [RESTORE] key.
Sometimes these keys are 'locked out' by the program and the only
option is to turn the computer OFF.
(E) CLEARING THE SCREEN. EITHER:
       (1) Hold down the (SHIFT) key and press the [HOME/CILR] key.
       (2) Type in PRINT CHR$(147) (RETURN].
       (3) Hold [RUN/STOP] key down and 'tap' the [RESTORE] key.
