C64 Quick Reference Page 1

                       COMMODORE C64 QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE

(A) SETTING YOUR SYSTEM UP.

DO NOT TURN ANYTHING ON YET!!!

(1) Connect the printer to the disk drive and the disk drive to the
computer using the serial port leads supplied with the equipment.

(2) Connect the rnonitor (or television set) to the computer using the lead
        supplied.

(3) Connect the datasette to the computer.

(4) Connect all the devices (except for datasette) to the mains power
supply.
(5) Turn on the devices in the following order:
        (a) the monitor
        (b) the printer
        (c) the disk drive
        (d) the computer
If you have done everything correctly, the monitor should be displaying a light
blue border, a dark hue background with light blue text saying:

**** COMMODORE 64 BASIC V2 ****

64K RAM SYSTEM 38911 BASIC BYTES FREE

At this stage, you are all set to get into computing with the Commodore C64
home computer.

Of course, if you have a cartridge connected to the computer, this display may
differ. In this case refer to the manual accompanying the cartridge.
Chapter one of the 'Commodore 64 User Manual' deals with the setting up of
your computer more comprehensively should you experience any difficulty.

(B) LOADING PROGRAMS FROM TAPER

        (1) Insert tape into datasette.
        (2) Type in the following:

LOAD Program narne [RETURN)
(if program name is known) or LOAD (RETURN]
(if program name is not known) or Press the [RUN/STOP] and [SHIFT] keys at the
same
time to load and autorun the program.

(3) The computer will then tell you to: PRESS PLAY ON TAPE

Press the [PLAY) button on the datasette to start the tape running.

(4) The computer will find the next program on the tape and will display on
the monitor:

FOUND *PROGRAM NAME"
