Running win98se and BPQ (408a) is not a problem.
I have a Pentium II @ 400Mhz, 128 Meg Ram
BPQ will run better if you don't use the OMBOARD comm ports.
I have a 4 port, FLYNIX, comm card and it is not PLUG and PREY, so I have no
problems at all.
First tell the BIOS that you want to control the COMM port, that is NOT in
AUTO mode. If you are using an ISA card, reserve the IRQ's you want to use,
by telling the BIOS, Legacy ISA.
You Must tell the VINDOZE OS not to try and access the COMM port by changing
the entry in the [PORTS] section of ..\windows\win.ini..
From G4IDE's documentation:
[Ports]
COM1:=-1
COM2:=-1
COM3:=-1
COM4:=-1
BPQ will not run, if the VINDOZE OS has access to any IRQ and IO ADDRESS that
BPQ is using.
bpqcode.386 must exist in the ..\windows\system from 3.11 onwards.
----------------
bpqcfg.txt
I have "EMS=1" and it is OK with my machine
"HOSTINTERRUPT=127" is a must for "WinFBB"
"DESQVIEW=0"
------------
Autoexec.bat:
path=d:\bpq;c:\fbb\bin
d:\
cd\bpq
bpqcfg (This ensures that "bpqcfg.bin" is written after changes.)
bpqcode (Loads the code)
cd\
c:\
------------
My BPQ is on another drive so I must point to the drive I run FBB on.
-----------
config.sys:
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\SETVER.EXE
-----------
G4IDE provides execellent documentation and a BPQ patch for running WinPack.
Before I nearly forgot; disable the comm ports in the DEVICE mamager
Hopes this helps
BTW my aeroplane won't fly, can anyone help?
Regards Bill
