When you use KISS it is the packet-program you are comparing with
something else, as KISS is only a converter from raw-data to HDLC-frames.
The programmer has to build the AX25-frames in the application.

Maybe because the developers doesn't fully understand the AX25-protocol
they choose an easy way to aproach the problem.
"Let someone else develope the protocol-package, and we are developing the
application as we doesn't know how the protocol works"
(Only a guess..., I don't say it IS that way.)
If you use KISS, you MUST have the AX25-protocol in the application.
(Or as a separate driver...)

WA8DED hostmode is just another frontend to an existing AX25-TNC.
You just can't compare DED-hostmode with KISS.
