Not realy, not if you want a wide area packet network with workig routing,
which can be used but all users for converse etc.
The new version of thenetnode with its improved net/rom routing or x-net can
you use, and better flexnet.
But hardly bpq!
Things have been improved in node softwares since the days
of bpq. Bpqs quallity measurement is not working, and the network information
is updated to seldom.
These problems have been corrected i other nodes, but not in bpq since it is
not developed any more.

You can get both to run perfectly!

It does in every situation, expect that when the conditions, nuber of users etc
are the those corresponding to the set parameters of bpq, and that is not
often. And since many bpq nodes are not setup correctly may be never.
>But in situations where the Node is being used as the front-end of a

>want to use the TNC's built-in PMS?
Not often, since mail comes to the bbs. And the unprotoheaders must be
collected and mail downloaded, that can't the pms do.
He would rather appriciate a well working packetsystem, since that is what is
used now adays.
A packetdriver thet let him get the most out of his current equipment, and a
god working terminal and mailreader.

You can save comprots by connecting many tncs to one comport.
6pack is just a protocol and the code in a firmware is very small.
For the tnc manufacturers would it be easy to add 6pack to there firmwares,
may to day have both kiss, ded hsotmode pms etc.
Until then can the tnc overn modify his tncs slightly to be able to use both
6pack and tf2.7b on the same eprom etc.
Or switch between eeproms in some nice way, like on tiny2.
>In a "Windows" situation, which seems more stable and takes less system

No and windows isn't a bit user friendly.
No real documentation, must edit the system register to do any changes.
Most people doesnt have the slightest idea of how it works, what changes can
be made and how to correct some problems etc.
And the fist thing you must do when you have installed it is to change every
setting made, and every driver installed since the installation process doesnt
do a good job. And the drivers installed is old.
In most cases is it pure luck that some computers work fine and others doesn't.
So to find and correct problems isn't easy.
>I don't believe that *any* particular program can be "The Best" in all
>possible circumstances.. It has to be an individual choice.
That the packet drivers and nodes of today is better then they where before
are there no question about.
Before could a node be run on the same computer as a bbs or a stand alone
tnc2, but not any more. Also the bbses is using more computer power today.
But is is not a problem, since the computers are better and it it to prefer to
use two old computers for bbs and node than one new and it also works better
and is cheaper.
