BULLETIN NO. 11

The weather forecast for today from the Met. Office at Ronaldsway at
7.45am:- Rather cloudy but mostly dry this morning with hill fog slowly
lifting as the morning goes on. However some showers will develop around
lunchtime, turning heavier by mid afternoon with patchy hill fog
returning. Winds - a moderate Westsouthwesterley this morning turning
Northwesterley this afternoon and strengthening. Temps: 12c rising to 15c
by late morning.

The first race today, scheduled for a 10.45am start, is the combined four
lap Ultra-Lightweight and singles TT. Last year Robert Dunlop made a
welcome return to the TT after injury, and scored a magnificent third
place in the 125cc Race. This year, in Friday evenings practice, he
knocked 18.5 seconds off the lap record in 20.24.7 - 110.91. Honda mounted
Gary Dynes was second, 42.1 seconds down at 107.22 with Shaun Harris
(Yamaha) in third place a further 2.7 seconds down. Last years winner and
lap record holder Ian Lougher (Honda) was fourth fastest at 106.67, fifth
was Denis McCullough (Honda) unfortunately out of the race because of a
practice spill, and sixth was Garry Bennett (Honda) at 105.83mph. Riders
completed
276 laps - 10,300.29 miles.

In the Singles Race, Johnny Barton (Ducati), going so well in the European
Championships was fastest in practice in 20.14.5 - 111.84mph, some 32
seconds faster than Craig McLean (Ducati), who led this race last year in
the early stages who lapped at 109.06. In third place was last years
winner David Morris (BMW) at 106.83mph. The top six was completed by Jim
Moodie
(Honda) 104.23, Bob Heath (B52) at 101.54 and Bill Swallow (RM Seeley)
100.71 mph. In this Class 154 laps were completed - 5,810.42 miles.

The four lap Junior TT, which has the biggest entry this year, is due to
start at 1.15pm. Ian Simpson (Honda) who lapped at 117.24 with Bob Jackson
(Honda) a further two seconds down at 117.04mph. In fourth place was
Adrian Archibald (Honda), fifth Jim Moodie (Honda) and sixth Iain Duffus
(Honda) at 116.34mph, but he is out of the races after breaking his leg.
Riders
completed 581 laps - 21,921.13 miles.
