The weather forecast for day one of the 90th Anniversary Meeting, issued
by the Met. Office at Ronaldsway at 9 a.m. - Warm and sunny again today -
slightly hazy - temperatures 18-20 C (64-68 F) - the breeze freshening a
little from the East during the day. 
Conditions expected over the mountain this afternoon: Temperature 18-20 C
- wind Easterly 20 mph. The first race today is the six lap T.T. Formula 1
Race with a 2 p.m. start. 

Phillip McCallen will be starting out to try to go one better than last
year and notch up five wins. He topped the practice leaderboard in this
class on his Honda Britain RC45 with a lap in 18m. 37.7s. - 121.52mph
-just five seconds faster than Michael Rutter on the V&M Honda Britain
RVF750 who recordedhis first 120 plus lap. 
Simon Beck on the Peachurst Kawasaki was third fastest 10.1 seconds down
on Rutter. Jim Moodie’s 750 Suzuki took fourth place at 118.28 followed by
Joey Dunlop (Honda RC45) at 117.83 and David Goodley (Kawasaki) at 117.74.
The top 34 riders lapped at over 110mph. An interesting note - Joey Dunlop
was just 0.4 seconds faster on his 500 Twin than on the Honda RC45 - that
is consistancy. Riders completed 453 laps - 17,091.69 miles. 

Sidecar Race "A" follows at 5 p. m. Rob Fisher/Rick Long (Baker Yamaha)
topped the practices in 20m. 3 2. 1 s. - 110. 24mph - his fastest ever
lap. He was 32.7 seconds faster than Ian Bell/Neil Carpenter (Bell Yamaha)
who was just 0. 8 seconds faster than Vince and Graham Biggs (Molyneux
Yamaha). John Holden/Ian Watson (Jacobs 600), Roy Hanks/Phillip Biggs
(Beale Ireson NRH) and Kenny Howles/Doug Jewell (Ireson Mistral Yamaha)
completed the top six. Nick Boddice/Dave Wells (Honda Britain) chasing his
10th win was seventh fastest. The top 24 riders lapped at over 100 mph,
and riders completed 501 laps - a mileage of 18,902.73 miles. 


A reminder that the additional Classic Parade takes place between St.
Ninians Crossroads and Governors Bridge tomorrow
evening between 7 p.m. and 8 p. m.
