At the risk of sounding repetitive, the weather for the traditional
afternoon practice was perfect.
The big classes were off first with Bob Jackson with his F1 Kawasaki with
Henk Riezebos on his 600. F1 riders out early were Marc Flynn, Derek
Young, Michael Rutter, Joey Dunlop and Simon Beck. Jim Moodie was out on
his 500 and completed the lap first and recorded 118.94mph. Simon Beck
lapped at 119.59, Joey Dunlop at 117.83, Nigel Davies at 117.30, Marc
Flynn at 115.37 and Bob Jackson 113.31mph. Proddy times Ian Simpson 116.75
and Alan Bennallick at 115.68.

Sidecar TT Change of Passenger - 58 Todd Sokol 24 Michael Neale.

Change of Rider - 7 Bob Jackson - 28 Rob I'Anson.
Singles TT Change of Rider- 67 Bob Jackson
Production Additional Entry - 68 Ian Armsrong Triumph 955.
Change of Machine - 22 Kawasaki Jim recorded 119.39 on his
flying lap, but there were two 120 plus laps - Michael Rutter at 120.98
and Phillip McCallen 120.90 mph. Before the second session for the smaller
classes riders were warned of oil on the course from 32nd milestone to
Windy Corner.
It seemed to be a quiet session with 18 Lightweight Richard Coates and 22
Utra-Lightweight Russell Henley the 1996 Lightweight M.G.P. winner leading
off. Lightweight speeds Phillip McCallen 115.83 and Richard Coates 112.87.
Robert Dunlop on his 125 lapped at 106.97mph.
Juniors Jim Moodie equalled the fastest lap in the class so far at
116.46mph whilst Simon Beck recorded 116.46mph. First Sidecars away were
Tom Hanks/Steve Wilson, Martin Vollebregt/Rens Dubbeldam, Gary
Horspole/Kevin Leigh and Rob Fisher/Rick Long.
Rob Fisher was first back with a lap at 107.63, Ian Bell recorded 106.62
and John Holden 106.39. On his second lap Rob Fisher recorded his best
ever lap at 110.24mph. Today 264 solos and 63
Sidecars were scrutineered. In a very busy session there was just one
incident reported - 97 F1 Nigel Davies came off the 500 Yamaha at Braddan
Bridge, he was taken for a check up at Nobles Hospital.
Clerk of the Course Jack Wood announced that there would be no Saturday
Morning Practice.
