Travelling Marshal Des Evans said after a lap of the course before
practice this morning that conditions were absolutely ideal - and even at
4.45am the "midgies" were about! The bigger classes were out first and
approximately 50 riders were sent off in the initial batch, with Sandra
Barnett on her F1 again first alongside 82 Production Carl Rennie. Among
the early starters were Bob Jackson on his F1 Kawasaki, Jim Moodie on the
500, Simon Beck on his Fireblade and Tim Leech on his F1 Kawasaki.

Bob Jackson was first back with a lap at 113.65mph with Jim Moodie at
114.67 and Tim Leech at 110.56. Proddy speeds were Loren Poole at 117.83,
Simon Beck 113.11, Alan Bennallick 113.80 and Carl Rennie 111.92mph.
The majority this morning seemed satisfied with just the one lap. Of those
who went through Alan Bennallick did 115.44 and Carl Rennie 115.18.
The second part of the session was for the Sidecars and about 20 outfits
were on the line, first off were Roy Hanks/Phillip Biggs, Gavin
Horspole/Kevin Leigh, Peter Nuttall/Nick Crowe and Tony Baker/Ian Simons.
First back were
Roy Hanks with a lap at 105.23mph and Alan Schofield lapped at 102.82mph.
The sessions for this evening are the same as Monday evening: 18.15-19.05
Newcomers, Ultra-Lightweight/Singles and Lightweight: 19.10-20.00
F1/Senior, Production and Junior: 20.05-20.50 Sidecars.
Scrutineers reported that 80 solos and 33 Sidecars were checked today.
Just one incident this morning 64 Junior Terence Fitzgerald slid off at
Governors Bridge and was taken to Nobles Hospital for a check.
