BULLETIN No. 5 - WEDNESDAY MAY 28th P.M.
The weather for this evening was perfect, but the start was delayed due to
a road accident on the Mountain, and riders were warned that the road
would be slippery at the Mountain Box. First off was Jim Moodie on the
Production Suzuki which had just arrived on the Island with Adrian
Archibald on the 600 Harris Honda. After being first away in most sessions
so far, Sandra Barnett was 10 seconds later this evening and set off with
Chris Richardson on his 125 Honda. Lightweight riders Nigel Davies and
John McGuinness were next. Joey Dunlop took his little Honda out just
ahead of Phillip McCallen on the 250. Michael Rutter was on his 600 whilst
Ian Simpson opted for his 250.

Jim Moodie was first back with a lap at 114.98mph and Adrian Archibald did
112.58. Fast first laps from Phillip McCallen on the 250 at I 1 5.94 and
Bob Jackson on his 600 at 113.69.
In the 125's Joey recorded 104.23, Gavin Lee 104.21 and Glen English
105.73. There were a number of Junior and Production riders at the start
of the second session but shortly F1 riders Michael Rutter, Joey Dunlop,
Simon Beck and Derek Young set off in close company.
The speeds were climbing F1 times were improving - Marc Flynn 115.77,
Michael Rutter 116.17 and then 119.88, Joey Dunlop 115.23 on the RC45 then
112.97 on the 500 Twin, Simon Beck 112.07 then 118.47, Jim Moodie 114.97
then 116.70 on the 500, Bob Jackson 114.89 then 116.21, but Phillip
McCallen set the fastest lap so far this week at 121.52. Then on his
Proddy bike he lapped at 117.11 mph.
Tonight 263 solos and 60 sidecars were scrutineered. Incidents reported
this evening 9 Junior Ricky Mitchell came off at Bedstead Corner, taken to
hospital with fractures, 49 Ultra-Lightweight off at Greeba Castle, to
hospital with possible minor fractures, 58 Production Pete Beale off at
Union Mills to hospital with minor injuries, 28 F1 John Barton of at
Governors Bridge O.K. and 21 F1 Tim Leech off at Parliament Square O.K.
