Tex Moreton was originally from New Zealand and came to Australia in 1934.
Like Slim Dusty, Tex also recorded for Regal Zonophone, cutting his first
tracks on 25th February 1936. EMI has released a three (from memory) CD set
of Tex's recordings. Those CD's carry the familiar red and green Regal
Zonophone label.

Tex was from a different era to Slim Dusty, probably a more traditional
Hillbilly era. He was much more than just a C&W singer, turning his hand to
many and varied "occupations".

Australia's first country & western superstar died of cancer on July 23,
1983 in Sydney, a little over a month before what would have been his 68th
birthday. His body was returned to Nelson, New Zealand, for burial with his
parents.

Read here for a bit of history on Tex Moreton ....
