After a few comments about a 'fat Dracula' I thought I would search for
any pictures taken at the time. Sadly, I can'r find any of me in my gear
so I will attempt to send a pic snapped of me by a girl I knew at that
time. I am not in my outfit, in fact, far less but I have censored it for
packet consumption. It does show how thin I really was and was to remain
until late 2002 when I had picture taken at the Atomium in Brussels
during a visit to Brussels.
I sent it to Pete VE3WBZ as part of an email. Not a very good picture,
taken with a pocket instamatic. The last time I sent a picture out with
that it was the quality of the picture which was slagged off. For those
who don't know what a pocket Instamatic was, it was a small simole camera
which took 8mm film so not good.
If I had had a modern mobile 'phone with built in camera, I could have
produced an acceptable picture by modern standards. I did have a Chinon
35mm SLR which took excellent pictures but it was a clumsy thing to carry
so I usually left it in the car and made do with the Instamatic.
The pic I am hoping to send by 7Plus is better quality but Polaroids did
take 6cm by 6cm pics so it should be better quality.
The reason for the fat happened just after the Atomium pic was taken where
I was wearing my 28" waist jeans and looking like a spider. My doctor was
giving me a regular check up and took my BP. He looked rather worried and
ordered a blood test which confirmed I had hypothyroidism.
In a little over 6 months I put on about 6 Stn = 84 LBs = Ca 40 Kgm.
I have got rid of a lot of the weight and keep taking the thyroxin so I do
look better but I will never be as thin as in that photo.
If it gets through it should prove I was not lying; seeing is believing as
they say.
