Hi Pete and all,
Eh, can't say how many coffins Ian had in the basement... Ian? The
trouble with Bela is he made the perfect Dracula with those mannerisms
and Hungarian accent. He couldn't shake either so ended up typecast, in
every other movie people saw Dracula. Actually it was such a shame
because he was an excellent actor and played every part well. ONE other
movie? He was in quite a few and the last was one of those Ed Wood campy
sci-fi B movies where he died early in production and was replaced. I
don't remember who took the role but from that point on Dracula never
took the cape away from his face. (;->)
Funny, we had The Coon Hunter who had this racist thread running through
him, somebody must have given him a talking to and he became The Devil
and dropped the attitude. He BTW was my introduction to the Titan II, the
best sounding station on the air besides my little gang with "Stereoized"
older AM ham transmitters. (oops)
Speaking of voices, before the mayhem there was Helen 2Q5468 who sounded
just like a parrot. The only times I heard her were early in the morning
calling her husband on the way to work... two queen five four six eight
base to mobile, copy Walt? If he answered they'd talk a minute and he'd
go off, then I started in imitating her call interspersed with whistles,
parrot noises and the classic "pieces of eight... AAAWK!" Have you ever
heard a parrot go nuts? (;->)
