Hi Ian and all,
LOL! Maybe we should title you Count Ian (Tepich)? Nope, Valentine Dyall
must be one of those English actors who never crossed the pond like
Christopher Lee and a few who ruined Bela Lugosi's image (;->) THE Count
Dracula. Funny you should mention it, that was one of my Halloween
characters and had the same effect on some too.
Inspired by the Japanese sci-fi film The Mysterians my favorite year
round character was tweaked by the ITC puppet TV sci-fi Captain Scarlet,
the Mysteron and his "Little Me" the Mousteron. Complete with tape echo
and effects he attacked one local goofball or another with death rays and
photon bombs, then took off in his flying saucer saying "Here's hoping
there are no more (handle) on your planet." BTW add echo and feedback to
a breath blast into the mic and you have a photon bomb explosion. The
Mousteron had to be prerecorded, he was the Mysteron played back at
double speed. "I may be small but I can still DEEESTROYYY you!"
Ah we had our fun and upset a few people while the others were laughing.
Fast forward to The Crusher, extended response audio and a deep, gravely
voice gave an awsome effect. Long story but the upshot of it is, being
our group all had extended audio and the voice is easy and we were
scattered about a wide area nobody ever figured out who or where he was.
Fast forward again and a bit off topic, a ham friend in South Jersey is
an AM Gangsta deluxe using AM broadcast equipment from mic to antenna,
the business end of the station being an old tube type 1KW transmitter
retuned for 160M and a Johnson Viking Valiant for the other bands. It BTW
is modified for 600 ohm line level input from the processor rack. Getting
to the point, he uses tape carts with a recorded CQ for each band which
sparked an idea for Haloween 1999. Using a tape deck in the rack working
through the mixer board I recorded a special CQ with a Romanian prefix
never intended to be used on the air, when I played it for him he laughed
so hard he had to grab a chair.
To borrow the intro from an old TV show... There are eight million
stories in The Naked CB, this is one of them.
Here's to you chicken banders, CHEERS!
