Originally the "coke-can" was made for fun, and pranks on
friends, so we all expected it, and looked for it, no matter
how long it took.

Punishment for the pain in the butt, took mnay forms up here.

OH come on...K monster or not....let that story roll !!!!

I think they dropped it sometime in 1966 or after, as well
too many stations and border stations were talking back
and forth anyhow, to family and friends they didn't care.

Lots of folks here have licences for both sides....seen that
also in the Amateur Radio.

As for going back. I don't think my friend ever left. He
still had his old Cadre 510C which had to be one of the first
transistor sets five channels and tunable and in a portapack.
Some also have dual stations, and mostly for the wife and children
if they really don't want to follow the ham in the family.

My mother loved to chat with friends on CB in the 1960s when we
lived in Toronto. My father too....to tell me he wanted the
car...get that radio out...etc < g>. Whatever the reason
we as a family used it, and it was a feature that kept it going
whereas Ham radio put one of the family in a league of his own
and unless everone studied and passed tests, they couldn't
join...and I never was interested in ham for that reason.

Maria will be all set to go, sometime in May 2010, and time
to dust off one of the old CB callsigns for her use. CH 1
is our place on the dial. I had hoped that she wanted her
ticket, for ham radio, but her only interest seems to be
keeping in touch with me, so we'll also be getting the
cellphone when the CBs goes outta range.

That reminds me of my dilemania back then, but she has made
a choice and I respect her for it, and I am not forcing her to
be a hammie.

There is only a few channels here, where there is any activity
and for the whole it is quiet.

Have to run ... HF in the car today... 3755 if anyone interested.
