Yes, it was filmed entirely in Australia. In fact it was filmed around a
small town in NSW called Silverton, which is near Broken Hill. Of course,
all the previous discussions were about Western Australia, not New South
Wales. When I looked on the map just now, Silverton is about 375
kilometres from an area in South Australia labelled as "Strzelecki
Desert".

The only desert I can find in Western Australia is the Great Victoria
Desert, which spans the border with South Australia in an area North of
the Nullarbor Plain.
