Potential new VK's eager to get on air
--------------------------------------
Indications from most parts of Australia are that there's an existing
demand for the new Foundation Licence even before it officially becomes
available.
Many of those applying to become accredited WIA Assessors report knowing
of people interested in the new licence.
Enrolments for the first two-day training and assessment session have
already been made creating the scene for a good kick-start for amateur
radio in Australia.
Strong enthusiasm exists among clubs and groups too with them endorsing 90
candidates to become assessors. A third of these may already hold formal
training or teaching qualifications that can exempt them from the full
assessor training.
A steady flow of visits to the Foundation webpage
www.amateurradio.com.au/foundation are also another indication of interest
in the new licence.
The Foundation Licence study book is now in its final editing phase before
its first print run. Standardised electronic and hard copy resource
material for Foundation Licence class instructors is nearing completion
too.
The new three-tier licence system only needs completion of the legislative
procedures and then approval.
With the re-aligning to international standards of both the Standard and
Advanced licence syllabuses and question banks, existing Standard (Novice)
licence holders and the new Foundation licensees will find upgrading
attractive.
