AN OPEN LETTER TO ANDY G0FTD.

A VERY BRAVE (?) AND CERTAINLY "USEFUL" (?) ATTACK BY G0FTD.

(SLANDER UNLIMITED!)

HELLO ANDY,

You recent bulletin under the above heading constitutes a really great
contribution to Amateur Radio and the Packet Radio System in general, as
well as being a wonderful way to instil some decency into the hobby.

(Sarcasm intended!)

This is particularly so following your relatively recent most meaningful
and deeply thoughtful missive on the subject of "Ask Yourself".

Trevor VK5ATB has done a lot for Amateur Radio, and particularly the
Packet Radio Network, here in VK5 over a period of many years.

He has, however, made it clear that he will NOT, from now on, be
receiving, or reading, messages sent to him via this network, so why pose
such a question, without any foundation, on a public basis.

He has made it clear that he has own valid reasons for closing his BBS
operation.

He has not given any indication of such activities as you have
slanderously, and cowardly, inferred by your bulletin.

How low can you get, putting out a bulletin that he will probably never
read?

Your bulletin, in which you ask,

"Is it true that one of your VK5 users dobbed you in to the ACA for
alledged offences under the: Australian Imaginary Amateur Radio Offences
Act 2003 ?" (sic)

smacks of nothing other than nastiness and a desire to "STIR" up more than
just trouble.

It is certainly evident that your question is based upon a most
imaginative disgusting presumption and is made in such a way as to
immediately imply a very nasty accusation.

This is certainly a very dirty way to act.

I have little doubt about what your nasty "sling-off" is based upon and I
deal with that matter further in this bulletin.

Trevor (VK5ATB) and I are good friends and have known each other for many
years, much of which time I held various offices in our national Amateur
Radio organisation (WIA) at both state and Federal level.

If we ever had anything that could arise as a difference between us, we
have a relationship that would allow us to discuss the matter in good
faith and no doubt come to some reasonable resolution.

My reputation is held in good regard both here in VK and in quite a number
of other areas involving the hobby around the world.

I have worked for the WIA from as far back as the 1950's with a continuing
contribution that also includes local Radio Club level. I challenge you to
try, as a relative newcomer, to better that effort over such a period of
time.

Having said all that, I suggest that you might consider presenting an
apology for your disgusting suggestion, irrespective of where it might
have been aimed.

Your "attack" is nothing less than slanderous. In fact it can additionally
be described as comprising a nothing less than a despicable, insulting,
slanderous and insulting insinuation.

Your approach amounts to unwarranted denigration in the lowest manner.

You might also consider providing an explanation as to just on what basis
you have made such a demeaning slur on a fellow Amateur Radio operator
located here in the VK5 area.

If you cannot do this you deserve to be seen for what you really show
yourself to be.

I have no compunction in describing, for any one to learn, the REAL facts
as to how I approached my complaint against GM7HUD and G4EBT regarding
their denigration of the Australian troops in Iraq.

I do not resile from making it clear that I DID take some action regarding
a bulletin that should never have seen the light of day. My action was
shown to have been reasonable when the matter was correctly looked at.

G4EBT has since made it quite clear, on a public basis, following his
investigation of the actions taken by the "RA", that my actions were quite
reasonable. He has also made it clear that the actions taken by GM7HUD and
himself were certainly ill advised.

I am prepared to provide, again publicly, copies of the relevant
statements by G4EBT on the matter.

I challenge you to either back up your "cruddy" remarks with facts or
admit your fault in this respect.

I also point out that you were NOT party to what went on regarding the
incidents referred to regarding the bulletin concerning Australian Service
personnel and that you have only been "stirring" on a second-hand basis.

One thing that can be made quite clear based on my "reasonable" action was
that I do not make idle threats.

So "mate", get your act together, do something about it, and it can be
left at that.

You might also note that it really does no good to try and resurrect
problems from way back, however, if necessary, I am prepared to follow the
matter through.

Incidentally, the above was written only about 30 minutes before the end
of 2004 and prompted by your uncalled for slur.

What a lovely way for you to have approached the New Year.

Regards, if such are called for or appropriate,

Ian

P.S.

SECOND THOUGHTS.

I had included the following sentence in my original message which was to
have been sent directly to Andy G0FTD regarding an apology for his quite
despicable bulletin.

" If you are not prepared to do that, I am quite prepared to present this
"P" message of mine as a bulletin for ALL to see. "

Thinking over the matter further, I have had second thoughts and as a
result I have decided instead to place my reply to his nasty, and
unfounded, allusion on the network as a general "Bulletin" (SB) and thus
immediately show him up for just what he is.
