You are right Ari, the Platypus is in the family of MONOTREMES.
However!!!!
Monotremes:
Any of an order (Monotremata) of egg-laying mammals comprising the Platypuses
and Echidnas. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Platypus: From the Greek PLATYPOUS.
A small carnivorous aquatic oviparous mammal (Ornithortychus anatinus) in
eastern Australia and Tasmania that has a fleshy bill resembling that of a duck,
desense fur, webbed feet, and a broad tail.
Carnivous:
Subsisting or feeding from animal tissue.
Aquatic:
Growing or living on or frequenting water.
Oviparous:
Producing eggs that develop and hatch outside the maternal body.
Now I suppose somebody will call a Koala a bear.
