I overlooked that fact, I guess I was still a little stunned at the time.
Silly me. Ahhh.. found it. BID $:D12072VK6BE

I just had a look on a UK BBS and read half a dozen bulletins on the matter.

My son passed his ham exam when aged 10 and if the disgraceful material on
packet from certain VKs was happening at that time, he certainly wouldn't be
allowed to see it. This morning I see another couple of bulls from VK with
offensive language...

The large majority of VK hams that I have the honour of knowing via packet are
people I am proud to know as friends, but there one or two others who don't
exactly enhance their country's reputation and seem to think that the use of
offensive language and behaviour is quite acceptable.

While M_FILTER software can _catch_ offensive language, maybe a version that
sends the user a message might be of use in reinforcing the idea that
offensive language is offensive? Just imagine a few hundred (or more) messages
arriving back at the offender's BBS.....

Here is my proposal:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Instead of UK hams only sending the former WW bulls to GBR, how about
publishing details about how to set up various packet programmes (e.g.
Winpack, Sally, TPK, T4, paKet) so that they ignore or reject mail from the
known troublemakers?  This would enable all of us to enjoy ham radio to the
fullest without the hobby being dragged down by the Foulmouthed Few.
Or maybe better and easier to implement:
Interestingly, Warren's bulletins now never reach this BBS and consequently the
average blood pressure of the local packet users is lower.  Perhaps if the
Foulmouthed Few were put on BBS 'Reject' lists that might be beneficial for the
hobby?  Their antics certainly do nothing to help the hobby.
I remember many years ago on CB (when it was civilised) having a conversation
when someone else butted in with unwelcome comments.  Noting that the new
arrival was weaker I wound the squelch up until it cut him out and then
resumed the original conversation with the pesky butter inner unable to impede
the enjoyment of the contact.  I'm "winding the squelch up" now by putting
three of the infamous Foulmouthed Few on my reject list.  There, it feels
better already :-)
>My kindest regards to you and yours,
Thanks for the kind words.
It is reassuring to know that others are concerned about the troublemakers.
73, David.
