Hi David and all,

To clarify, in the US if not everywhere a license to transmit (Amateur or
otherwise) is a federal grant making it a privelige, not a right. Rights
are granted by the Constitution (subpart Bill of Rights) while granted
priveliges are much like driver's licenses, "What God giveth God taketh
away." You see there is quite a difference in definitions, the
Constitution defines "certain unalienable rights" which are all that we
have, all the rest are priveliges.

Since Amateur Radio is far down on the FCC list of priorities
(broadcasting being quite at the top) you can see who the real power
brokers are and it's not us. The biggest axe of all is weilded by the NAB
while on the other hand the first to get that NAL is a broadcaster so you
see it's actually a two edged sword.

It'll be interesting to see which way this thing goes especially since
many US SW broadcasters are Christian oriented as are many standard
broadcast outlets. This throws yet another element in the mix now doesn't
it? We have yet to hear from "the religious right" so maybe they're
waiting for the right moment to drop the bomb? We shall see, we shall see.
